The end..

I'm stopping this blog. After a few years, the interest does not seem to be there anymore. Maybe I'll blog again but I will think about it later. I kinda miss this blog but, everything must have an end and have a new beginning...

Best view of Mt. Kinabalu from your room.

Best Places to see Mt. Kinabalu in Kundasang, right from your bedroom window...

1. Kinabalu Pine Resort: Located just a few hundred meters away from the KUndasang market, some of their rooms are facing the mountain and the first thing you see in the morning is the mountain. They serve a pretty good breakfast too.

The view. Simply lovely!
2. Celyn Kinabalu Resort: This one is further away from Kundasang, on the way to Ranau and it is another 3km away from the tarred road. It is very isolated, and located on top of the hill which overlooks the mountain on one side and the Ranau area on the other side. This is a newer establishment and their price are slightly higher than the first one.
The Kinabalu wing as seen from the road leading up to the resort.

The view of the mountain. Clouds are aplenty after 7am in the morning.
On the left, it is the valley view and the right side where the back of the chalets are actually the Kinabalu view rooms.

GE

Seems that I won't be able to exercise my right as a citizen in this GE...But I am just sick of those lies, inaccurate statistics they put up. Vote for stability, prosperity? I will vote for my country.

Hopefully I will get some time to put up my best moments in this 5 years of mine in the next few entries.

Climb...

Picture 020, originally uploaded by heekheen.

The 2007 Climbathon perhaps would be my last climbathon. I doubt if I have the time and effort to do it again this year, as I will be starting my housemanship soon and I don't think I can sacrifice my time and sleep to train for it. Everytime post climbathon my knees and hips will be giving me troubles. I think I have sprained or injured my hip flexors and the knee joint as well.....
But then, perhaps I will have enough time to spare to actually climb it again and do the Via Ferrata as well.

Medicine Posting Ended

It's the most taxing posting of all. Classes starts at 5pm, endless bedside teachings, grand ward round presentations and log books to boot. Not forgetting the endless amounts of materials needed to cover.

I thought my long case would be an easy one, but I felt I could do much better. It's a straight foward case: Acromegaly with local compression symptoms, and post operation twice. It's kind of disappointing that I could finish everything by the one hour. Sad. Didn't do fundoscopy, or mentioning it to the examiner, although I think I could answer most of the questions.
Nevertheless, it has ended and I will be moving into my final posting before ending it with shadow house officer posting (SHOP) and then the finals.

On the other note, my hard disk finally reached its product life cycle. It has decided to die on me the week I had my medicine posting exam. I have it revived today and it has not been a smooth event either. Sent to service center, they said they don't do my model anymore, sent an email to them and they told me to brought it over to have it inspected. 5 days later, the price they quoted me was like....one fourth of a price of a new cheapest laptop. And I decided to not to fix it there, and they wanted to charge me, but I argued that I was told I would not be charged anything prior to sending it. Sent it to another shop, but they can't do it as they don't have the CDROM (mine quirky). Asked friends anyone has it, all not available. At the end tried my luck using my CDROM and it managed to read it. And here I am, typing this now. At 4 and half years, this laptop of mine has been good to me. Hopefully it will last me until I work.

Raining Day post

I don't really keep track of how long I haven't been updating my blog, but I guess it is lllloooonnnggg.... After a few years, somehow the interest in blogging wanes, and I have seen some good blogs are no longer updated or the person decided to stop blogging once and for all.

Now, here I am waiting for the rain to stop and thus I have to do something. And nothing could be better than to write off my thoughts about the events happening around us.

The Malaysian Astronaut issue. For me, it's just a 'hyped' up space tourism. Not a major milestone for me. If you have money, just pay the for the ride. Don't let me start counting about the extra money we have to fork out. We spent about RM90million for him and an earlier fella just spend RM68million. Where did the extra RM22million go? Did we really contribute to anything or has our country has any industry that supported the aeronautical industry which could indirectly benefit from any know-how technology? And now, it seems that there's a potential that the experiments are ruined. I think there should be some precautionary measures to safeguard some fragile materials right? Err, don't worry, there's the second angkasawan going up to repeat the experiments! Oh yeah, I would love to look at the experiment results when it is out.

Then, the Judiciary video issue. Reading today's news makes me feel a little uneasy. Face action if you don't expose who's the whistleblower? What kind of shit is this? The ACA don't investigate the fella's in the video but wants to get hold of the fella who filmed it and potentially punish him/her for exposing what he/she feels is wrong. It's like a school boy who told the teacher that his child is the one that stole the money and now the teacher threatens the kid not to simply accuse his child. I even did not hear of the committee calling up the lawyer involved and listen to what he has to say about it. It is like they are protecting those that are implicated in the video. What kind of nonsense we are having now?

Football...

Well, I don’t think I have to say much about the current state of Malaysian football. There’s a whole page in the sports section in every newspaper everyday. “Mau kutuk pun dah takde tenaga, kesian semua kat FAM etc. Tiap tiap hari kena kutuk”. This is the worst history ever. But when we hit rock bottom, we can’t go down anymore but to go up. Do or die.Although I am not an expert in football, its management let me give my little two cents and suggestions to improve the national sport.

We must have a very strong base to begin with. And the base will be in the community, or the school level. School must be actively promoting sports of every kind. In the PE lessons, students must be at least be introduced to different sports like football, hockey, basketball and the proper rules and at least some basic training. What I see from my school, in every PE lesson, someone will just grab a ball and the whole class will chase the ball for that whole period. Things like the team formation or simple passing must be given some exposure. Or worse still, some school might not even have a proper field to begin with due to space constraints etc. even worse, some teachers will think that PE will be a waste of time, and use that period for replacement classes etc.

Interest will be important. Interest will bring focus to the players. To sustain interest in the school level; some small competition among classes in the same form can be organized in every 3 months. And the best time to hold it will be during school holidays, where students will normally just spending their time with tuition and other activities. Then, the school’s sports teacher will be able to spot talents from there and perhaps will be able to form a school team which will then take part in inter-school competitions. Make that a big thing, bring the supporters that cheers and liven up the atmosphere. The interest and atmosphere in the current days coupled with school spirit, cheering for the school team was what makes people strive to play a higher level. Not money or fame.

And in the community, an active small league with lots of buzz going around it will do wonders to ignite the spark back into football. The league can be school team, a team representing an area/association/company, or just a team assembled from a bunch of enthusiasts. Do like a regular league with a match per week. And it must be not just a one tournament thing. That will give them the exposure and experience, at least at a local level. At least there will be a continuation after when they have left the school.

I think that’s at least must been done after this. When the base is strong, the house will not collapse when strong wind blows. And the officials governing the sport please be sincere in doing your job. It is not for your own advancement. I have smelt some are beginning to show interest in taking over...
